UET ECAT Entry Test Format

Engineering entry test commonly referred to as ECAT is a pre-requisite for getting admission into the University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore or its affiliated colleges. Multiple other public sector institutions like Punjab University, UET Taxila, BZU Multan, Islamia University Bahawalpur and some private institutions also require Combined Entry Test conducted by UET Lahore as a pre-requisite.
After successfully completing the intermediate exams under FSc Pre-engineering or equivalent education (A-levels), interested students can appear for the ECAT test. Ever year UET Lahore organizes the exams based on four subjects; Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English. Chemistry may be substituted by statistics or computer science.
Over the past years UET has made ECAT more difficult with only a handful of talented students scoring more than 300 out of total 400 marks. Calculators are not allowed in the test. The ECAT format for UET and its affiliated colleges is as follows,
  • Mathematics ( 30 mcqs )
  • Physics         ( 30 mcqs )
  • Chemistry     ( 30 mcqs )
  • English          ( 10 mcqs )
Total MCQs = 100
Time allotted = 100 mins.
The ECAT has negative marking with every correctly answered MCQ scoring 4 marks, wrong answer -1 mark and skipped MCQs with 0 marks. This means that if a candidate has 40 correct answers, 40 wrong answers and 20 blanks (no answers), he/she would earn the following marks:
40 x 4 + 40 x (-1) + 20 x (0) = 160 – 40 + 0= 120 marks out of maximum 400.
PakPrep.com mock tests fully simulate the UET ECAT to give you the exam practice in the similar environment. After you complete the test, you shall get your ranking as you stand amongst the total number of students who have taken that test. You should not miss it.
